Meets
Swim meets are not mandatory but all swimmers are encouraged to participate. Meets can be a real confidence building experience as swimmers begin to see their times get faster, win heat ribbons, and win event ribbons. In addition, swim meets are a social time for our organization. The children build lasting friendships while waiting for races and swimming in relays.

How to Sign Up For Swim Meets In order to swim in a meet, swimmers must be signed-up by the Friday 1-week prior to the meet. Sign-up sheets are in the white binder at the ARC in the plastic Eels crate, which is on a table on the pool deck during each practice. If a swimmer will be unable to attend a meet they have signed up for, they MUST scratch their name from meet sign-up sheet by the Tuesday prior to the meet. In the case of a last-minute emergency, sickness etc. where a swimmer unable to attend a meet - one of the board members or coaches MUST be called PRIOR TO the meet. If a swimmer does not attend a meet they signed up for, has not scratched and does not call - the swimmer will NOT be permitted to swim in the next meet. A second "no-call", "no-show" offense disqualifies the swimmer from the Championship Meet.
What to bring to a swim meet
What NOT to bring to a swim meet
Parents WE NEED PARENT HELP! For our home meets, we absolutely need at least one parent from each family to be available to help with running the meet and/or work at the concession table. Most positions need no prior experience and most are only for a portion of the meet! Away meets also require some parent participation -- we must provide six timers and two stroke/turn judges. If every parent takes a turn with this, the burden will not be carried by the same few individuals. We all want to watch our kids swim! To offer your services- sign up in the binder at the ARC (on deck during all ARC practices) or speak with a board member! Thank you!!! GO EELS! |
